Join us at Papa Razzi in Wellesley on October 21 from 6-8pm for our monthly education social. We are pleased to have Arvind Kumar, PWC Principal and Lucinda L. Everett, Clinical Process Redesign Director - Partners eCare hosting a presentation titled, "Do You Control Your EHR or Does IT Control You?".
A brief summary of the presentation is below:
Our in industry is rapidly accelerating towards a value-based payment system, where the impact of quality outcomes and patient safety on reimbursement becomes more apparent just as the associated and unintended consequences of EHR in HIT become exposed.
A multi disciplinary Clinical Risk Assurance approach with a team of practicing clinicians, risk management professionals, EHR/HIT specialists, compliance specialists and data scientists will identify and address financial, clinical, compliance and operational risk exposures across the continuum of care to assess and monitor known areas of high risk and high impact to quality, safety and financial outcomes:
- Critical Communications Loop Closure: Controls which help minimize loop closure process failures related to ordered diagnostic testing and referrals (impact safety, quality, medicolegal and financial leakage risk)
- Transitions of Care: Improve high-risk transitional care communication (high risk handovers) between care settings (units, departments) and levels of care (care continuum and network) to improve quality and safety, reduce service line leakage and reduce potentially avoidable admissions and readmissions
- Safer EHR/HIT systems: Controls which promote safe and effective use of EHR/HIT and analytics to improve care, avoid unintended consequences and minimize regulatory exposure
Perform an independent review with the ability to aggregate and visualize the data across EHR/HIT!
